LONDON: Pakistan former captain and cricket great Wasim Akram has compared the batting of Rohit Sharma, the Indian opening batsman, to the likes of fellow teammate Inzamam-ul-Haq.
“Inzi was very special indeed, you rarely get to see such players, like the way he used to face fast bowlers that he has got extra time on his hand like Rohit Sharma,” said Akram, while talking at his official Youtube channel.
Talking about the criticism Inzamam faced from Imran Khan, another Pakistan great that Inzi didn’t reach his full potential, Akram opined that his game may have declined in the later stages of his career but still remains one of his favorites.
“He didn’t in the end, but in the beginning he did, Inzi worked very hard on his game and is definitely one of the greats of the game in my book. However, in the beginning it was Imran Khan who gave Inzamam the confidence to play for his side, because the skipper knew that this youngster is going to work for Pakistan and will also win us matches.”
Hailed among the greatest fast bowler of all time, Akram will be seen in action as the president of the Karachi Kings, for the upcoming fourth edition of Pakistan Super League, which is scheduled to start from February 14 in UAE.
