BOLLYWOOD: The biopic on our current PM Narendra Modi, titled ‘PM Narendra Modi’ was about to release this week. However due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission stated that the film will not be released until the elections are concluded as the political drama may disturb voting pattern.
Vivek Oberoi who portrays NaMo in the film is probably upset over the decision and about the entire scenario as none of the Bollywood celebs spoke about supporting the film. Reportedly, Vivek spoke that it is easy to take selfies with the PM. He probably pointed out on those celebs who otherwise are vocal about their views. Also he is upset on no support the film received during the rough patch it was going through.
He conveyed to the media house that he feels Bollywood industry is not united. He said when ‘Padmaavat’ was stuck and Sanjay Bhansali is mistreated and misbehaved with, the industry should unite together. He further added that if ‘My Name Is Khan’ gets stuck, industry should come together to make sure it doesn’t get stuck. A disappointed Vivek added that it’s easy to post selfies with Prime Minister but on the other hand we need to stand together
He also spoke about ‘Udta Punjab’ which was released during the Punjab elections as the director fought for his right. Vivek feels its unfair for him.
For the uninitiated, a petition was filed by the opposition party to actually stop the film from releasing on the given date as it might favour the ruling party. However, despite of a lot of controversy, yesterday, the film was passed by the CBFC and was certified U certificate. Moreover, as the film was in controversy, the supreme court handed the final decision to be taken by the Election Commission on the release of the film. Thus, accordingly, the film has got cancelled and shall release post the Lok Sabha elections.
