The new chief executive of Uber will visit London on Tuesday for talks with the UK capital’s transport authority after it said it would revoke the car-hailing app’s licence to operate in one of its most important markets.
Dara Khosrowshahi, who took over from Travis Kalanick at the end of August, will meet Transport for London commissioner Mike Brown.
TfL ruled last week that Uber was not “fit and proper” to hold a London operating licence. News of the meeting comes less than 24 hours after UK prime minister Theresa May called TfL’s decision “disproportionate”.
TfL and Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London who chairs the body, have also come under pressure from a petition signed by more than 822,000 people demanding that TfL renew the company’s licence.
