Sangakkara considers ‘genius’ Wasim Akram the greatest ever

PERTH: Born with an ability to tarnish any bowling attack, Sri Lankan batting great Kumar Sangakkara is regarded as one of the most complete batsman of the modern era. The batting genius form the island nation claims Wasim Akram as the most difficult bowler he ever faced. Yes, Wasim Akranm was the man who caused most troubles to one of the greatest batsman of the modern era, revealed Sangakkara. “I think I’ve faced Wasim Akram only a few times (but he was) immensely difficult,” Sangakkara said, in a podcast, quoted Australian website. The batting great went on to praise Akram calling him an absolute genius with the ball. “It’s strange you know, when you pick your bowlers or the people think, if you take Akram on the Test wicket tally, he’s nowhere near the top. He’s 12th, but you ask any batsman around the world and his name always comes upHe was an absolute genius.” Sangakkara has met Wasim Akram in only nine ODIs throughout their international career, where Wasim with his lethal left-arm swing toppled the then young Sangakkara on three occasions. Wasim Akram is a regular feature of cricketers All Time XI list; the sultan of swing remains active in the game as a regular commentator, and interests in several cricket leagues around the globe.
