The popular qawwal/Sufi singer also got to perform at one of Europe’s oldest music rooms
And not just any school. Rahat was at Oxford yesterday to receive an honorary shield from the world-famous university.
He also performed at one of the university’s most historic venues, the Holywell Music Room.
The Holywell Music Room is “the oldest music room of Europe, made in the 17th century, which was specially opened up for Khan sahab,” shared his PR rep. “The biggest composers and musicians of the UK & Europe of the last three centuries have made music in that room. It’s historically a very prestigious place.”
He received quite the warm reception when he arrived:
