BERLIN: Looks like actress Priyanka Chopra, is on a spree to unknowingly offend the social media community from the moment she set foot in Berlin for promoting her Hollywood debut, Baywatch. First, it was when she wore a short dress to meet Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who also happened to be in Berlin on the same day. Second, and the most recent one was when she took selfies with her brother Sidharth from the Holocaust Memorial and posted it on Instagram as a story, following which the Twitter community went absolutely berserk. Some even went ahead to call her move tone-deaf and insensitive. Many felt it was disrespectful to do a shallow act such as posing for a selfie at such a historically grim monument.
Now, we understand she was illicitly trolled in the first instance, but for the recent one, we feel, she should have been cautious and acted more wisely. It’s a known fact that tourists are not allowed to take pictures at the Holocaust Memorial as it reminds the world of the unfortunate incident when millions of Jews who were ruthlessly killed by Hitler and his regime. And no celebrity is an exception to that rule.
It seems the actor understood her mistake and deleted the pics but even a second’s delay on Twitter can prove to be nasty in such cases, particularly for someone of her stature. Needless to say, the 34-year-old actress was, once again, bombarded with tweets criticising her for her “insensitivity”.
Here are some of the tweets that followed…
