MUMBAI: In this competitive world where everyone is a victim of body shaming, the entertainment industry is where most celebrities have been victims of the same. And so our favourite Priyanka Chopra wasn’t spared from it either.
Addressing the media during a chat show, Priyanka revealed she has been the victim of body shaming since her teenage days. “I was a skinny, gawky teenager and I had crazy frizzy hair that I didn’t know how to control. People made me feel awkward because I didn’t look like everyone else,” she said. “Later I figured out what looks best on myself,” she added. The Baywatch actor said that body shaming is pretty common in Bollywood. “I think it happens to all of us especially in our business where you are supposed to look a certain way, dress a certain way and yeah you get pressure from everyone around you saying ‘you used to fit into that dress last month and this month you don’t.”
The diva shared that people expect a particular look that is supposed to be portrayed to the world. “Not just for people in the business but girls, in general, have to look a certain way.” Slamming the society’s craze for body dynamics, PeeCee said, “You need to figure out what your strengths are, put them in a box and just focus on those, all your weaknesses just disappear after that and you focus on what’s good for you.”
