LAHORE: Pakistan women team whitewashed Bangladesh on Wednesday in the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series after beating the visitors in the final game by 28 runs.

The match was played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. The Green Shirts limped to 117 for seven at the back of Javeria Khan’s half-century.

The opener hit seven fours in her 48-ball 54 and registered second consecutive half-century after she had scored 52 on Monday. Omaima Sohail remained the other notable batter by scoring 31 runs from 29 balls with two fours and a six.

Bangladesh’s pacer Jahanara Alam took three wickets for 12 runs in four overs and remained the pick of the bowlers once again. Rumana Ahmed took two wickets for 19 runs.

Anam Amin’s left-arm spin dented the visitor’s run-chase at the very beginning as she bowled Sharmin Akhter and Sanjida Islam in space of three deliveries in the second over of Bangladesh innings.

Bangladesh failed to recover after losing early wickets as Pakistan tightened their grip over the match. Anam and debutant Saba Nazir took two wickets apiece for 10 and 22 runs, respectively.

Nigar Sultana, 30 from 44 balls, remained the top scorer for Bangladesh during their run-chase. Fargana Hoque was the other notable run-getter with a 26-ball 27.

Javeria Khan was declared player of the match.
