KARACHI: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s latest Pakistani commercial for a washing machine brand has landed him into a controversy after a few people on the internet slammed the actor for encouraging sexism. Nawaz is seen chilling with his friends in the ad as he bragged about getting rid of his wife and bashing her up. As his friends in the ad ask him is everything fine with ‘bhabhiji’, he replies by saying, “Kar di Dhulaai.” Later, one of Nawaz’s friend pranks him into believing that his wife is behind which shocks him and later shows that he fears his wife. This created a huge furore in Pakistan as the people on social media called it misogynistic.
Earlier, too Nawazuddin Siddiqui has featured in Pakistani TV commercials for the same brand alongside Pak actress Aisha Khan. A leading daily quoted a source close to Nawaz saying, “He [Nawaz] shot for the ad a while ago in Dubai. It is just an ad and there is no need to read between the lines. He has nothing to say about it [the controversy]”. On the work front, Nawaz will be a part of Munna Michael which stars Tiger Shroff and Nidhhi Agerwal. The movie is directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Viki Rajani and is slated to release on July 21, 2017. Apart from this, he will also be seen in Sridevi’s Mom wherein his look is unrecognizable. He plays the role of a bald looking crooked old man in the movie. Besides, Nawaz is also part of Nandita Das’s Manto.
