DHAKA: Batsman Mominul Haque has been recalled to the 14-man squad for the opening Test match against the visiting Australians, starting 27 August in Mirpur.
Mominul replaced all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain as Mosaddek has not recovered from an eye infection, said Bangladesh Cricket Board officials on Sunday.
Despite having the highest Test-run average, Mominul, a left-handed top-order batsman, was dropped from the squad on Saturday citing ‘poor performance’.
“We have considered the players’ form from January to August this year to include them in the squad,” Nannu told a press conference on Saturday afternoon.
Mominul’s exclusion, however, was questioned in the press conference.
