LONDON: A killer who gunned down a young man outside a Caribbean restaurant had been lying in wait for his victim for an hour, police say.The 24-year-old was shot execution style in the head after getting into the passenger seat of a silver and black Renault Capur, parked outside Jerky’s, where he and a friend had been for dinner. The pair had left the restaurant, often visited by former Strictly Come Dancing Judge Alesha Dixon, at around 9.30pm when the attacker struck. A man who lives just yards from wear the shooting happened said a group of youths in black motorcycle helmets stood around for hours after the shooting. He said: ‘I heard a loud bang like a car crash and when the police arrived I went outside to see what was going on, but then they told me to go inside.’ Jorge Pardo saw the aftermath of the attack described the moment a man in a wooly hat rushed back to the scene and held the body shouting ‘he’s gone, he’s gone.’ Jorge, 30, who lives nearby, said: ‘I heard a noise like a firecracker and then saw two guys running in different directions.
‘I heard shouting and we went downstairs and there were people in the road calling the police. ‘A moment later a black fancy car pulled up and one of the guys that I saw running away jumped out and ran over to the body. ‘He desperately held the body and he was shouting ‘he’s gone, he’s gone’. ‘He then shouted his name, but I couldn’t work out what it was. The body was still in the car. ‘The guy who was shouting, the one in the hat, was mixed race. They were all mixed race. ‘He didn’t wait for the police or anything, he just drove off.’ Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, said: ‘At this early stage in our investigation I am appealing for anyone who was in Walham Grove last night, around the time of the murder, who may have seen or heard something that could help our investigation.’ He added that detectives believe they know the identity of the victim and next of kin have been informed.
