Man charged with attempted murder after girl, 3, dropped from bridge

MANCHESTER: A man has been charged with attempted murder after a three-year-old girl was dropped 30ft from a bridge into a river.

A police officer quickly reached the youngster in the water below Astley Bridge, Bolton, on September 29, and she was taken to hospital where she was found to have a broken wrist.


Greater Manchester Police said Damien Smith, 39, of Le Gendre Street, Bolton, would appear at Bolton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, accused of attempted murder and affray.
