Malala’s father opens new charity office in Liverpool

LIVERPOOL: The father of teenage activist Malala Yousafzai has helped officially open a new office on Merseyside in an attempt to get more young people involved in society. 19 year old Malala came to prominence when she was targeted by extremists when she was on her way to school in Pakistan. She has since been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Her father Ziauddin is supporting World Merit, a global enterprise based in Liverpool which works with youngsters in more than 150 countries. The organisation encourages them to take up the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and improve international understanding amongst young people about the issues which affect the World. The head office was also opened by Muhammad Nawaz, whose son Ahmad escaped alive from the Peshawar school massacre. The fathers have teamed up behind their children’s endeavours and want to increase the involvement of young people in civic society, decision making and education. Liverpool-born entrepreneur and businessman Chris Arnold, who co-founded World Merit, said he was absolutely delighted to be joined by the two campaigners.
