Japan’s Princess Ayako to get married with shipping employee

TOKYO: Japanese people rejoiced Monday over the official announcement that Princess Ayako. The Imperial Household Agency announced the planned engagement of Princess Ayako of Takamado to Kei Moriya, who works at major shipping company Nippon Yusen K.K.

Princess Ayako, 27, is the third daughter of the late Prince Takamado, a cousin of the Emperor, and Princess Hisako.

“I’d like to make a happy family with lots of laughing,” the princess said at a joint press conference alongside her fiance-to-be, held at the agency during the afternoon.

The couple’s wedding will take place on Oct. 29 at Meiji Jingu shrine in Tokyo, following “Nosai no Gi,” an engagement ceremony, on Aug. 12.

“He proposed to me this year having a dinner at a restaurant. It was very sudden, so I asked to hold for my answer,” Ayako said. “As we have deepened the relationship including our family, friends and related people, I came to the decision and accepted this proposal.” Princess Ayako  said.
