LONDON: India and Essex ended the only warm-up match in a draw. India were India were 89/2 in the second innings against Essex when rain stopped play and the match was called a draw. In the first innings of the match, India were bowled out of 395 after Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya struck individual half-centuries for the side.
In reply, Essex were reduced to 45/2 after the Indian seamers got a good start but the batsmen showed resistance on the lats of the match and managed to score 359/8 (d). For India, it was Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma who were among the wickets as the two right-hand bowlers shared 7 wickets among themselves. India in the second innings had a dismal start after Shikhar Dhawan was out for a duck to get a pair in this match. Later, Pujara was also caught out for 23. Ajinky Rahane along with KL Rahul remained unbeaten before rain stopped play. India and England begin the five-match Test series from August 1.
