ISLAMABAD: PTI chief Imran Khan has his eyes set on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation and in an interview to an international newspaper, the cricketer-turned-politician hoped that there would be a big ‘goodbye reception’ for Sharif in Islamabad next week.
PTI chief Imran Khan said that he truly believed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s time was up and the premier was headed towards disqualification.
According to the article, the PTI chief is hopeful that Nawaz Sharif would have to step down or face disqualification, less than one week after the damning report of the JIT was made public.
“I think he (Sharif) is gone,” said Imran. “The long, dark night is finally over.”
The piece further quoted Khan as saying that the whole defense of the Sharif family in the Panama Leaks case was a fraud and that the whole family has lied to the court.
“Now, there will be criminal proceedings against the prime minister,” he said.
Imran also referenced an Elton John song during the interview and hoped for Sharif to vacate the office to a ‘big goodbye reception’ next week.
“I hope next week is his last week. You know that Elton John song ‘Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road’ – I am hoping there will be a big goodbye reception for Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad next week.”
