Guru Nanak’s birth celebrations underway in Nankana Sahib

NANKANA SAHIB: The rituals in connection with 548th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion, is underway in Nanakana Sahib on Monday. The ceremony is being attended by more than 15000 Sikh and Hindu pilgrims from India, America, Canada, Britain and other countries. On the last day, the Sikhs brought out the Palki procession to complete the main religious ceremony called Nagar Kirtan. The people beat the drums while the youngsters performed bhangra and children fired crackers. trict security arrangements have been made inside and outside the gurduwara. The celebrations will conclude in the night with the ritual of Bhog. Later, fireworks display organized by district administration will be held in hockey stadium.
