MANCHESTER: Three children are dead – while a mother and a three-year-old girl are fighting for life – after a fire at a Salford terrace.

Demi Pearson, 14, passed away along with little brother Brandon, eight, and sister Lacie, seven, after a blaze broke out on Jackson Street in Walkden at 5am on Monday morning.

Police have since made five arrests in connection with the fire.

A three-year-old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital. The 35-year-old mother of all the children is in a serious condition in hospital.

One line of investigation is the possibility that flammable liquid was poured through the home’s letterbox.

The Manchester Evening News also understands that police were called to the house three hours before the fatal fire, following reports a wheelie bin had been set alight.
