Deandra Dottin rushed to hospital after collision during Women’s Big Bash

MELBOURNE: Deandra Dottin, the West Indies all-rounder, was rushed to the hospital after she collided with her Brisbane Heat teammate Laura Harris at the deep mid-wicket boundary during the Women’s Big Bash League game against Melbourne Stars. Appearing to have suffered a concussion, the big-hitting veteran was immediately taken off the field. The incident happened in the 11th over when Meg Lanning smashed a Haidee Birkett delivery towards mid-wicket. Harris and Dottin, who were patrolling the fence, ran into each other while trying to stop the ball from going over the ropes. While Harris got back on her feet after some time, Dottin landed badly on the kit-bag lying on the sidelines. It first appeared that she might have hurt her shoulder but later, was taken to the hospital to guard against further aggravation. Harris continued to be a part of the game, which Brisbane Heat Women won by five runs.
