BOLLYWOOD’s nawab, Saif Ali Khan, who delivered a series of flops in the past couple of years including Rangoon, Chef, and Kaalakaandi, is slowly heading back to stardom. His latest offering, Netflix’s Sacred Games, has done exceptionally well and has been renewed for another season. The trailer of Khan’s upcoming film, Baazaar, also appears to be promising and the actor is excited about it.
Speaking at the trailer launch at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Saif said that he was thankful to Nikhil Advani for offering him a role like this one.
“My character in the film is very successful and ruthless, which was fun to play,” he said.
He added, “I recall speaking to Nikhil and saying that they are many films on the stock market which I don’t understand. He told me that it’s not about numbers and it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand stock market. It’s about good and bad: it’s about crossing lines.”
In the film, Saif plays an ambitious, and unscrupulous, Mumbai stock trader who worships money. The film also stars Radhika Apte in a glamourous role and Chitrangada Singh as Saif’s wife. The plot appears to be an interesting concoction of money, glamour, Mumbai life, lies, deceit and revenge.

Considering the film is centred around the financial sector, when asked about people who flee the country after committing financial fraud, Khan said such acts are “terrible” and “horrible”.
“We want less corruption, less scams. We (Bollywood) have a very honest line of work; we try to make films, we try to sell films. Media and audiences make an example out of movie stars,” Saif said.
