Bangladesh virus death toll exceeds 12,000

DHAKA – Bangladesh reported 1,230 new COVID-19 cases and 33 new deaths, making the tally at 776,257 and death toll at 12,005, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 14,184 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 715,321 including 3,044 new recoveries on Tuesday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.55 percent and the current recovery rate is 92.15 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 7,626 on April 7 and the highest number of deaths of 112 on April 19.
