MUMBAI: After much speculation over Yash Raj’s next film, Thugs of Hindostan, it was certain that the movie would feature Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. However, the spot for the leading lady of the film is wide open. Apparently, YRF honcho Aditya Chopra and Aamir haven’t been able to zero down on a name yet, but rumours are now rife that Alia Bhatt’s name has been suggested for the movie. Earlier, it was rumoured that Adi was keen on bringing YRF prodigy Vaani Kapoor, who has a three-film deal with the production house, on board. She’s earlier been the lead in Shuddh Desi Romance and Befikre. However, Aamir wasn’t very convinced and has instead reportedly recommended Alia’s name to Adi. A source reveals, “Aamir is keen on casting Alia, as he considers her to be a far more established actress in the current lot, but nothing has been finalised yet.” The movie will be helmed by Dhoom 3 director Vijay Krishna Acharya, and the makers have locked Diwali 2018 for the film’s release. Earlier, it was also reported that Thugs of Hindostan had been offered to Hrithik Roshan, but the actor opted out of it, and Aamir stepped in.YRF had not commented on the casting at the time of going to press.
