LONDON: Staff at McDonald’s, JD Wetherspoon and TGI Fridays are all to go out on strike together over working conditions.
The group from the hospitality sector are set to strike on October 4 and join a rally at Leicester Square in London.
Workers from two Wetherspoon pubs in Brighton, as well as McDonalds staff in Brixton, Crayford, Cambridge and Watford, and TGI Fridays employees in Milton Keynes, London’s Covent Garden and Stratford are current eateries joining the strike, reports Sky News.
Speaking to the broadcaster, the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU), said the workers are “part of a growing movement of workers who face similar conditions of poverty pay, precarious contracts and lack of union recognition”.
The strike is being co-ordinated with a strike by anti-poverty charity War On Want.
