Varun Dhawan gets tweeted a challan

Varun Dhawan

BOLLYWOOD actor Varun Dhawan leapt out of his car’s window to oblige a fan with a selfie but the Mumbai Police was not amused.

They promptly sent the star a challan and posted a warning for the actor on Twitter telling him to restrict such “adventures to the screen.”

The police posted a photo of Varun taking the selfie with the fan and captioned it, “Varun, these adventures surely work on the silver screen but certainly not on the roads of Mumbai! You have risked your life, your admirer’s and few others. We expect better from a responsible mumbaikar & youth icon like you. An e-challan is on the way to your home. Next time, we will be harsher.”

Within half an hour, the tweet was retweeted almost 1.4 thousand times and had 1.7 thousand.

Varun Dhawan took responsibility for his actions and replied to the Mumbai Police, “My apologies. Our cars weren’t moving since we were at a traffic signal and I didn’t want to hurt the sentiment of a fan but next time I’ll keep safety in mind and won’t encourage this.”

The police responded to Varun saying, “Quite a galactic coincidence for the photographer to be on the same signal to capture your gesture, in a good intent nevertheless risky. Leaning out even in a stationary vehicle can be distracting for others considering your popularity. Glad you took our message in the right spirit.”

The Mumbai Police Twitter handle is popular for mixing up its messages with humour, cinema and trending references. From Game of Thrones to Superman, they have used it all in the past.

Varun is currently working on Shoojit Sircar’s and October. He will also be seen alongside Anushka Sharma in Sui Dhaaga, Karan Johar’s film Shiddat and Remo D’Souza’s ABCD 3.
