Three arrests after series of thefts linked to red van

RED VAN

NOTTINGHAM: Three men have been arrested after a red van was spotted in Ilkeston in a poor state.

A tweet by Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said the van had excessive corrosion, a loose battery and a perished shock absorber.

Police had issued an appeal for the public to get in touch if they had seen the van in the area, which was linked to a number of thefts in the Amber Valley area.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said officers visited the town after being called by members of the public who had seen the van.

She said: “Several Ilkeston residents called us this morning with sightings.

“We travelled to the town and found the van, which was found to be in a poor condition and not insured so it was seized.

“Three men in the van were arrested on suspicion of theft and they are still in custody this afternoon.

“They are aged 22, 25 and 20. The 25 and 20-year-old are from Nottingham while the 22-year-old is of no fixed address.”
