GUYANA: Pakistan bowler Sohail Tanveer bowled one of the most spectacular spells in T20 history to help his team clinch a huge victory in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Representing Guyana Amazon Warriors, Tanveer ripped through Barbados Tridents batting and took five wickets while giving away just three runs in his alloted four overs.
anveer’s victims included New Zealannd’s Kane Williamson, England’s Eoin Morgan and Tridents captain Keiron Pollard.
“We knew how important the game was, and that’s what we discussed,” Sohail said.
“What we discussed was that we needed to put our hands up.
“Every wicket was important for me today, you name it, every wicket was of a match-winner’s.
“When we came on this pitch yesterday, there was a bit of grass and moisture so I told my team-mates we can put balls in the right areas, and we were bound to get assistance. I just did the basics right, and got the reward.”
It was the most economical five wicket haul in T20 history and the record is being shared with Rashid Khan of Afghanistan and Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka.
Tanveer’s side won the game by 99 runs.
