MUMBAI: Delhi Capitals star Rishabh Pant became the first-ever wicketkeeper in a T20 tournament to effect 20 dismissals when he picked up two catches in their table-topping win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

With 15 catches and five stumpings in 12 matches, Rishabh Pant also set the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in an IPL season. The record was previously held by Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara who came up with 19 dismissals for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2011.

Recently, Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan also claimed 19 dismissals in Bangladesh Premier League 2019.

Rishabh Pant failed to trouble the scorers with the bat after walking in to bat at No. 4 at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday but the young wicketkeeper was impressive behind the wickets even as the entire Delhi team were tidy on the field.

Pant took a couple of stunning catches of Heinrich Klaasen and Gurkeerat Singh as DC bowlers restricted RCB to 171 while defending a 188-run target.

Pant, the wicketkeeper, may have been tagged as a work-in-progress by a few former cricketers but that hasn’t stopped the Delhi star from breaking wicketkeeping records.
