Man accused of hiding girlfriend’s body now facing murder charges

SODUS, N.Y.: The man who allegedly buried his girlfriend’s dead body on a farm in Sodus, is now facing murder charges in connection to the case.

Alberto Reyes, 26, was indicted on two counts of murder in the second degree in a Wayne County court Tuesday. He also faces 1 count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Reyes is accused of murdering, then girlfriend, Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, 18, and her 14-month-old son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon in May of this year. He later admitted to covering up her body, after finding her dead, saying he was too afraid to call 911 for fear he would be accused of killing her.

Selena’s body was found days after the mother and son were reported missing from the farm near Joy Road . Remains believed to be that of Owen’s were found in October on the same farm.

Reyes is expected back in court on January 15, 2019 to further answer to the new charges.
