King Abdullah II of Jordan begins Pakistan visit

ISLAMABAD: Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan on Thursday on a two-day state visit for talks on bilateral relations, officials said.

He was received at a military airbase near Islamabad by President Mamnoon Hussain. A 21-gun salute was given in honor of the distinguished guest.

The Jordanian King is accompanied by foreign minister and a number of civil and military officials.

The visiting King will hold talks with the president, as well as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry said bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest will be discussed during the talks.

“The visit will provide the two countries an opportunity to explore ways and means to further strengthen cooperation in diverse areas, particularly to expand bilateral trade and enhance investments in Pakistan,” a foreign ministry statement said.

PM Abbasi picks Jordan’s King from airport on JF-17 Thunder

Before the formal reception to honour King Abdullah-II of Jordan was held at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Thursday, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi flew to the airport to pick up his guest on his personal JF-17 Thunder, The Dependent has learnt.

PM Abbasi gave King Abdullah-II a tour of the twin cities, as the two leaders picked up half a kg of sweets from Grato Jalaibee en route to their tour of Murree Road.

Sources within the cockpit have confirmed that the two exchanged their seats temporarily as well, with King Abdullah-II getting the wheel, and flying the JF-17 Thunder down to Islamabad where the two were welcomed by other dignitaries at the reception at the PM House.
