BOLLYWOOD actor Irrfan Khan has been diagnosed with a rare disease. The 51-year-old actor is best known for starring in Hindi films but has also had success in British and Hollywood films.
Born 7 January 1967, his full name is Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan. He has appeared in over 100 films. Some of his Bollywood movies include Haasil, Piku, Maqbool and Paan Singh Tomar.
Movies he has worked on in Britain and Hollywood include The Amazing Spider-Man, Life Of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire, Jurassic Park and Inferno.
Khan is widely regarded as India’s best-known international actor. He has previously spoken of his dislike for the term Bollywood.
‘Bollywood says you don’t have your own identity – it shows the psyche and inferiority complex of our film industry,’ he said.
‘For decades we were content just making films for our own audience. That’s why the current changes are looking really promising and exciting.’
Irrfan is married to Sutapa Sikdar. The pair tied the knot in 1995 and they have two sons together, Babil and Ayan.
Irrfan changed his name in 2012 from Irfan to Irrfan. He said he liked the sound of his name with the extra ‘r’ in it.
