LONDON: Apple iPhones coming in 2018 could come with one major update. A report from ChargerLab claims that Apple iPhones that are expected to launch in September will ship with an 18-watt USB Type-C Lightning fast charger. This will not only facilitate faster charging but also enable faster data transfer.
The report talks about a new, rounder and comparatively bigger charging adapter than the current mini 5W power adapter. The new adapter would connect to an iPhone with a Lightning to USB Type-C cable which will also be shipped in the box.
The new 18W charger is expected to charge the iPhone at twice as fast as the current 5W iPhone charger. The third big advantage of this move, apart from fast charging and data transfer is that user can also connect iPhones to Apple laptops.
Apple is planning to launch three new iPhone models this year. The company could launch a bigger version of iPhone X– the iPhone X Plus along with a successor to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, rumoured as iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus. There are rumours of an iPhone SE2 also which could launch ahead of the September launch of iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9s.
