BOLLYWOOD: After being labelled a traitor by Indian extremists in wake of the Pulwama attack, the king of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has been denied by the Indian govt an honorary doctorate requested by the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for their alumni.
According to media reports, a request was sent to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry by the university seeking an honorary doctorate for Shah Rukh Khan.
HRD responded that the Bollywood star cannot be awarded another honorary degree as he had already received the honorary doctorate from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANNU) in 2016.
HRD further explained that no law prohibits giving multiple honorary doctorates to the same individual but such a practice is discouraged.
