BOLLYWOOD: In her career so far, Rakul Preet has done films in 3 south Indian languages and also the Hindi film industry.
While she admits that the way she takes a narration has changed, and evolved, in these years, the one thing that she has also learnt is the art of saying ‘no’. There have been times when her friends have offered her a role, and she had to turn it down either because of dates or because she didn’t like what she heard.
Ask the actress, who is gearing up for the release of her Tamil film Dev, about rejecting film offers from those who are close to her, and she says, “There are so many times when I’ve said ‘no’ to my friends. I give them valid reasons – I’ve recently told a friend that I don’t see myself as that character, and though the script is great, I can’t do it.
I believe that if they are my friend, they will understand that my professional decisions have got nothing to do with personal relationships. I wouldn’t expect anyone to do a personal favour for me. I don’t think you can say ‘yes’ professionally based on personal relationships.”
