MIRPUR: Pakistan pacer and world number one one-day international (ODI) bowler Hasan Ali has announced his arrival in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a bang by claiming a five-for.
Hasan Ali, who was just playing his second BPL game, struck on the very first ball of the match for his side Comilla Victorians against Dhaka Dynamites. Evin Lewis was Hasan’s first victim who was followed by Mehedi Maruf on the third ball.
Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Saddam and Abu Hider were the next three batsmen who failed to survive against the lethal spell of Hasan Ali. All five batsmen were bowled by the right-arm pacer.
Dhaka Dynamites won the toss and chose to bat in the match. They amassed 128 runs on the scoreboard with only two of its batsman taking their scores into double figures.
Sunil Narine made scored a half century as he made 76 runs from 45 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes while Kumar Sangakkar made 28 runs off 30 balls after hitting three boundaries.
Hasan Ali grabbed five wickets for Comilla, all of them being clean bowled while Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed two wickets. Rashid Khan dismissed one Dhaka batsman.
Comilla Victorians chased the target of 129 runs with eight balls to spare and four wickets in hand.
Shoaib Malik made 54 runs from 53 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six while Imrul Kayes scored 20 runs off 24 balls with two boundaries to his name.
Skipper Tamim Iqbal made 18 runs for the team.
Mohammad Amir and Sunil Narine grabbed two wickets for Dhaka Dynamites each while Mohammad Saddam and Abu Hider dismissed one batsman each.
Hasan Ali was named Player of the Match for his performance with the ball.
