CAPE TOWN: South Africa’s top batsman Hashim Amla considers Pakistan’s former fast bowler Mohammad Asif as the best bowler he ever faced.
During an interview, while answering a question, the right-handed batsman said that Asif was not quick with 135km/h speed. “But his accuracy was great because when he used to pitch on the fourth stump, I didn’t know that either it will move in or swing away,” Amla said, adding that Asif used to test your defence to the maximum.
“I know he is now banned from cricket over the match-fixing but he was the best bowler of his time,” the batsman said, adding whenever he talked to other batsmen around the world, everyone has the opinion that Asif was most difficult to face in his days.
Mohammad Asif was banned from international cricket in 2010 over spot-fixing in a Test match against England at Lord’s. After finishing his ban, the fast bowler has not been picked up by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the national team. He, however, is playing domestic cricket in the country.
