Armed patrols stepped up on stations and trains

COUNTER-TERROR operations are being scaled up by British Transport Police amid ‘severe’ threats facing the UK.

The force, which protects the rail network, is creating new units of firearms officers, dogs and ‘behaviour detection’ personnel in Birmingham and Manchester.
